Chiropodist vs Podiatrist
What is the difference between Chiropody and Podiatry?
We have a detailed post about the difference between the two professions.
Both professions are very similar with the main difference coming from where the person studied and Podiatrists being able to perform bone surgery.
OHIP?
Are chiropody services covered by OHIP?
Chiropody services are not covered by OHIP. Patients are required to pay for any fees incurred upon completion of the appointment. Receipts are provided for insurance reimbursement and/or income tax purposes.

We are recognized and covered by most insurance companies under your extended healthcare plan. Generally, you can find Chiropody services under the headings “Paramedical Services” or “Orthopedic Supplies and Equipment”.
Direct Billing?
Do we direct bill to third party insurance providers?
We offer direct billing for most insurance providers. Across all insurance providers, direct billing does not apply to custom products or special orders such as orthotics, orthopaedic footwear, or compression stockings. Please read our blog about direct billing to get more details.
Referral?
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
As Chiropodists are primary health care practitioners, a doctor referral is not required. We are accepting new Patients and our Chiropodists are always more than happy to take you in for a quick and easy appointment.

Initial
Assessment
What can I expect at my initial assessment?
The Initial Assessment visit includes a consultation and treatment with your Chiropodist; discussing your past medical history and current foot concerns. In terms of treatment, routine foot care is included in the initial appointment and charges, however special surgical procedures or ingrown treatment, laser and shockwave treatment may require another appointment and have extra charges.
All new patients are required to fill out an intake form and sign a form called “Chiropody: Informed Consent”. Please carefully review this form which provides consent for treatment. We will email you these forms before your visit so you can submit them online. However, for any reason you are unable to, please arrive 10 minutes early to your appointment to complete the necessary forms.
